What We Actually Do
We work on garage doors and openers at houses across the Sarasota service area, from Downtown out to Desoto Acres, North Sarasota, Southgate, and the other named areas within about a 16-mile radius. Most of the homes we get called to were built between 1964 and 2012, with a lot of that stock going up in the 1960s and 70s. \n\nA quote by phone is a range at best.
A real quote needs us to look at the door in person: the spring type and size, whether the track is bent or just out of adjustment, what the opener is and how old it is, and whether the panels are original or a replacement someone installed later. \n\nWe quote repairs and replacements. We don't do custom fabrication or specialty architectural doors - if that's what you're after, we'll tell you up front instead of taking the job and figuring it out later.
Work We Turn Down
We don't quote a repair sight unseen when the fix depends on something we can't verify over the phone - a spring job on a door we haven't measured, or an opener replacement when we don't know what's driving it now. Giving a firm number without that information means either overcharging you to cover our risk or underquoting and hitting you with a change order later. \n\nWe also turn down jobs where replacement makes more sense than repair.
If a door is old enough that the track, springs, and panels are all failing at once, patching one part just means we're back at your house in a few months for the next one. \n\nAnd we don't work outside the areas we actually serve. If your address is well outside the Sarasota service radius, we'd rather tell you that up front than schedule a visit and find out later it's not a fit.
Plain Answers
The door's approximate age, the opener brand if you know it, and a description of what's happening - won't open, makes noise, one side hangs lower than the other. Photos help. Because two doors with the same symptom can need completely different parts.
A house from the 1960s stock might still have original hardware nobody makes anymore; a door from 2005 might just need a sensor realigned.
